The first three dates are in the Doodle Poll above. Please select the dates that suit you and, as soon as I have a minimum number of confirmations for any date, I will send joining instructions via Eventbrite.

The focus of the workshop will be to work through the material in the 7 Deadly Sins of Nascent NEDs Download above, tailored to the specific needs and background of the workshop participants.

The feedback, available on request, that I received following previous Nascent NED workshops, and seminars, has been very positive.

Analysing the role and ethics of the in-house lawyer

15 years on from the groundbreaking "Scapegoat or Saviour" workshops and research on defining both the role and the ethical obligations of in-house lawyers; we will assess where, and how thinking has advanced on these important topics and consider the current situation and likely future trends. Our expert panel will look at the topic from four different perspectives; that of the client; GC; legal team and supplier.

Each of our experts will speak about one of these perspectives before we then break up into working groups, moderated by the experts where you can consider one of the topics raised in more detail with your peers using a case study situation to prompt the conversation. Each group will then report back on their discussion to everyone else so that you can have the benefit of the thinking of all groups.

We are delighted to announce that our speakers are Philip Wood QC from Allen & Overy and Ciarán Fenton.

LBC Wise Counsel, Paul Gilbert

The ambition:

LBCambridge2 is our major Leadership and Management Programme for in-house lawyers preparing to succeed in senior roles with management responsibility. It is held in two parts (in March and May) and delegates must be able to commit to both sessions.

In 2006 we launched the LBCambridge programme, which takes place twice each year at Queens’ College, Cambridge. This programme has introduced literally hundreds of in-house lawyers to some of the most innovative and insightful best practices relating to the role of the in-house lawyer and to their personal development.

Feedback from those attending the LBCambridge programme has stressed the importance of further developing leadership and management credentials. In response in 2012 we launched a major new programme designed specifically for more experienced in-house lawyers aspiring to succeed in management and leadership roles.

Paul Gilbert describes the programme:

“Of all the things I have done, I am most proud of this programme. It’s about our values, the importance of leadership in legal services and the need for all of us to fulfil our potential in a resilient and supportive environment. My whole career as a consultant, writer and mentor is poured into every aspect of what we do here”
