Fenton Management helps organisations de-risk their hiring, talent management and leaving phases by delivering bespoke career management consultancy services to their senior executives. We go beyond traditional coaching, mentoring and outplacement models by treating individuals like businesses and by acting as an advocate of the senior employee resulting in much better outcomes for the organisation.

Our core belief is that careers are businesses and jobs are joint ventures and therefore that the individual and the organisation will be best served if their career strategy is as robust and aligned as business strategy. We achieve this by helping them raise their emotional intelligence; by supporting them with key relationships and business objectives and, when in transition, by pro actively generating opportunities and representing them in and to the market. We manage careers as if they are micro-businesses using our proprietary Fenton Model™.

How We Work

We help de-risk the Hiring Phase by delivering an Appointment Due Diligence Programme to expose undiscovered issues in fit or career/business strategy alignment.

In the Talent Management Phase we provide bespoke First, Next or Last 100 Days Programmes by supporting their management of key relationships using our Relationship Grid.

In the Pre-Leaving and Leaving Phase we help manage pre-leaving decision issues and for those needing Transition Support, we draft a Personal Business Plan; agree a long list of targets which we approach using "back channels"; we manage relationships with head-hunters, prepare our clients for interview and support them in negotiating packages and deals.

For those pursing Portfolio Careers, we write a Portfolio Business Plan and we source consultancy, non-executive director and philanthropic opportunities.

For Entrepreneurs, we offer pre-commitment counsel; help road test business concepts before the business plan stage and help source funding and key people. We also offer a specific Earn-Out De-Risk Programme..

  • We establish what hard and soft returns they need and want from their work and establish how, in Maslow's terms, they can "be what they can be"
  • This analysis is captured in a Personal Business Plan

Performance

  • We use the Seven Interview Steps and other tools to focus strongly on market "Needs Analysis". Our preparation emphasises demonstration of competence, rather than assertion

Fees

Consultancy fixed fees are paid in advance against specific agreed deliverables within an agreed time frame.  Individuals or organisations pay or both contribute.
